This is particularly crucial when enemies start pouring in and you're trying to avoid taking damage.

Another issue I had was the lack of a level map or radar. Some weapons also have limited ammo clips, which made me wish for an option to reload manually. The fact that your character has to holster their weapon before reloading only adds to the frustration.

On the other hand, the game's combat mechanics are quite engaging. You can switch between different skills and weapons using the left trigger, which allows you to experiment with various attack combinations. The mecha's melee abilities, in particular, were a highlight for me. Each character can hold up to three skills, which randomly drop throughout your run, adding an element of surprise to the gameplay.

The game also features a unique heat system, where you earn rewards and experience points by cleansing planets of enemies. While this system makes sense in principle, it can be frustrating when your progress is undone due to a sudden death. You'll need to accumulate around 100 heat to progress, which means you'll have to cleanse multiple planets throughout your playthrough.

Overall, Shoulders of Giants shows promise but falls short due to some frustrating design choices. With a few tweaks to the navigation and reload systems, this game could be a real standout in its genre. As it stands, however, it's a game that will appeal to fans of action-adventure games but may not quite live up to their expectations.
